First light will waken silence . . .
Written by Dmytro Chystiak

First light will waken silence,
You still sleeping, arms flung wide towards me,
Breaths come more quietly, their warmth
Reflected in green dreams.
Violet storms – hushed and silent,
The window gilded by the vines behind,
Blue sea of breath not breathing
In your cast off covers.
There’ll be a sudden shower, rapid, radiant
The day will become dark and crimson,
Drop by drop we shall drink
The silence before the flame burns out.
First light cannot be restrained,
We shall drown in the morning flood,
And the day will never ripen
In your cast off covers
