Visiting Me in the Museum
A collection. Berlin Wall
by Britta R. Kollberg
Not me, of course, I’m still here
looking at
the graves of those who tried
to flee
(while the bereaved now attack those
who come fleeing here)
Recent history
boring as ever – I know it, I’ve been there
exhibits displaying my everyday every day
And what do we learn? When for?
Surprisingly, there is an old churchyard just
alongside the memorial. The tulips
are almost one meter high. Yellow, like light.
The gravestones whispering old age, happy
farewells
from children and grandchildren
to those buried with both feet resting
on homeland ground.
