Night in Venice

Written by Dmytro Chystiak

Translated from the Ukrainian by Hilary Sheers

A chapel slumbers in the reeds,

A distant storm slowly turns to blue.

Were interweaving into Autumns weeds,

Embrace me with your shadows hue.

Above white marble cypress trees

Dazzling an abyss of white.

A snowy city paints my dream, yet flees.

Embrace me in the dark of night.

You are not singing only breathing Spring,

And stars like sons are bright and high.

And when the morning starts to softly ring

Embrace me first then pass me by.
