Downpour

Uruguay
Messengers, the sea gulls on the coast
presage the storm as a winged oracle.
Dark, the plum clouds flatten over the sea
and impregnate and dominate it.
Salty, the ominous caws drill the waves
with foamed roaring.
Irate raindrops lash out on unguarded sand.
Sonorous, the liar seagulls trick the Nereids
with enraged dances.
And the blushing, fugitive Nymphs
sink forever in the deepest waters.
