Do Unto Others

Written  and Narrated by John DeAngelo

DO UNTO OTHERS

Off the top of my head

I cannot cite chapter and verse

and after years of catholic school

I am more than a little embarrassed

nonetheless I’m pretty sure

that regardless of religion, race or nationality

the bible says pretty clearly

We are all our brothers’/sisters’ keepers

I’m responsible for you, you me.

I’m also pretty sure

that the bible also says

“Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”

and that in the middle of a murderous pandemic

when following science can save lives

not only ours but families’ and neighbors’ too

and in that way, I can protect you, you me

we can practice what we preach.

So what’s the problem, why all the fuss?

In this god fearing country that we’re so proud of

doesn’t the bible also say

“Love thy neighbor as thyself?”
