Sam Friedman has spent the last 30 years conducting research on the spread of HIV/AIDS and on how to prevent it. He wrote Teamster Rank and File (Columbia University Press, 1982), a book on social networks, injection drug users, and HIV/AIDS. and is the author of one book of poems, Seeking to Make the World Anew: Poems of the Living Dialectic (Hamilton Books, 2008); three chapbooks that were published by movement organizations: Needles, drugs, and defiance: Poems to organize by (North American Syringe Exchange Network, 1999); Murders Most Foul: Poems against war by a World Trade Center Survivor (Central Jersey Coalition against Endless War, 2005); and A Turnpike Utopia: Poems to resist environmental destruction for profit and war (Central Jersey Coalition against Endless War, 2013).
