The Light of the Lighthouse

Written by Danuta Bartosz

Translated from Polish by the poet

Narrated by Bill Wolak

Poland

Will I manage

to darn the wounds

of fragile time

Will dew on the dune

of the Baltic Sea

bring freshness back

to broken grass once again

Defer the cruise

of the last glance

Waves of hope

high tides

low tides

For the light of the lighthouse

is nothing

when the ship

has already sunk

Danuta Bartosz was born in Kiev and graduated from the University of Poznań with a degree in Law. Poet, journalist, and publisher of 11 bilingual anthologies, she is Honorary President of the Greater Poland Branch of the Polish Writers’ Union.
