Syndic No.45 ~ Gary Beck

City Sight

Written and Narrated by Gary Beck

New York

City Sight

The cranes are flying,

not elegant birds,

but heavy machinery

raising buildings to the sky.

They neither tire from elevation,

nor weary from exertion,

having a function of their own

for observant people

who appreciate the city.

Disorder

Written and Narrated by Gary Beck

New York

Disorder

In the city of decay

the collapsing streets

sag under the anger

of urban traffic

urgent for destinations

timely arrival prevented

by unregulated construction

overwhelming traffic,

foot, car, bus, truck,

all clamoring for passage

hardly willing

to let others pass,

crammed together

in discordant assemblage.
