Humans on Edge Animals fail to Gauge

By Aju Mukhopadhyay

Let us now forget the issue treacherous

Of the birth, growth and spread of Corona Virus

Let us look at its effect on humans; their actions and reactions

In fear they have caved in shunning all adda, functions and meetings

Deserted their villages, towns and cities; their so long held foreground;

Denizens of the forest have come out and are moving in human habitats round

Bleating, chattering, squeaking, yelping, braying, wailing and making unheard sound

Rightly they remember that the humans often visited them at their home town

Captivated or killed them for fun or flesh; destroyed their habitats at random

Whereas humans destroyed Nature they live in cement-concrete forest;

Moving, running, peeping and peering through manmade jungle

They smell ego-centric intellect, fear, treachery and cruelty;

Birds chirp, shriek, chatter, screech, hoot and greet

animals joke and laugh at human frailty.
