The Commander-in-Chief On July 4th 2o20

By

Robert Cooperman

No fireworks this year
for idiot health reasons?
My followers won’t stand for that,
and I love to watch
my private, massive display
people would pay to be able to see.

So what if it’s unseemly?
What’s more American
than selling the suckers
what they think they have to have,
or their lives’ll be meaningless?

They’re meaningless already,
only they don’t know it:
why they have parades
and barbecues on the Fourth,
so it seems like they’ve got
something to celebrate,

while I make money faster
than croupiers in my fabulous casinos
used to rake in the chips
from suckers who thought
they had a sure-fire system.

Too bad my resorts went bankrupt,
though I didn’t get burned,
never have, never will.
That’s why I celebrate the Fourth,
grateful to live in the greatest country
on earth, after I made it great again:

why “Yankee Doodle Dandy”
was written about me.
